Take a white summer dress, for instance. During the summer months I wear this white dress with pretty sandals and straw clutches. But to wear it in December requires some invention.

Here is my white dress. A simple backdrop for any season and any occasion with the right accessories. If you don't have a white dress yet, I feel like I don't even know you! You need one. The easiest way to winterize a dress is to add a fur stole. Vintage is even better!

A white dress in December works great for a dressy occasion, so pile on the sparkle. Red shoes would have been a nice pop here, for a holiday event perhaps. But I chose to stick to neutrals. I just added a similar bejeweled heel like this one to the December Style Notes!

This was my mother's fur stole. Her monogram is inside, making it all the more special to me. One of our clients brought a gorgeous vintage fur stole to show me at our Holiday Party this past weekend that she had just bought, with a similar monogram sewn inside. Just make up a story about who gave it to you if you find one in a vintage store!

Another favorite way I like to wear summer clothes in the winter is to just add a jacket. This works over t-shirts and jeans as well as with dresses.

This is my Chanel jacket you met last summer. I bought it a few years ago on MAJOR sale (a rarity in Chanel-world) as a reward for a business goal I had set. So I try to wear it every chance I get to drive down the cost per wear. It goes with everything I own, because it's a neutral. So, yes, I wear it with heavy wool pants, blue jeans, and of course summer dresses.

I'm back to a neutral shoe with this ensemble. I like a quiet winter wardrobe. I've added some pretty winter heels to the December Style Vault you can wear next summer, too.

I often fasten the middle button of a cardigan to draw me in at the waist, but in this case, it felt a bit softer to leave it open.

I love soft blush with black and white. It feels so feminine. I also love pearls. With anything.
