I just showed you these in the last post, but here they are again: I’ve had this pair of James jeans since, get this, 1995. They were my first serious pair of jeans I paid serious money for – I think right at $100. I couldn’t believe I was paying that, but I still wear them. So cost per wear over time has made them all but free. And I came by that fading honestly. They used to be a really dark indigo blue, so they were my dressy jeans, but now since they are faded a bit, I wear them more casually.

We don't believe in hundred dollar jeans (unless you wear them for 11 years like moi).

1. Wear your jeans with a fancy blouse and heels for an evening out.

A dark rinse is dressier than any other wash because you can wear a really fancy blouse and accessories with them for a fun night out. I love mixing textures like silk and denim.

Add a fun shoe to dress up your look.

Then pile on the sparkle. All these accessories work together to send the message, these jeans were made for celebrating!

2. With a blazer and sensible pumps for an important meeting.

I still wear my dark rinses when I need to be more professional. A bootcut is just generally more professional than skinny jeans (white jeans are dressy, but can read more resort than board meeting in some settings). And you know I love, love, love dark rinse bootcuts with a blazer to say, I'm here. Deal with me.

I'm wearing another silk blouse, this time it's collared. Always tuck the collar of your blouse inside the blazer when you have 2 collars.

To create a more business look, I'll carry a structured handbag rather than a slouchy one.

3. With your favorite sweater and boots to hike in the woods.

There's nothing like jeans and boots. They go together like winter and snow!

Add some blackwatch plaid and you're a downright western glam committee member! My ankle boots are so versatile - you can wear them under bootcut jeans as easily as with ankle jeans.
