Have A Whole New Spring Wardrobe With This One Trick
Tina, here.
It may be cold where you are, but the calendar says it's spring and by golly we're gonna wear our spring clothes. But I don't know about you, I can't buy all new clothes every time it's a new season. I recycle my clothes in new ways every week on this blog. You know my wardrobe pretty well by now if you've been following for a while. It's a fun game for me, to wear my pieces in new ways to see how much mileage I can get out of each purchase. (This, incidentally is what we do for our clients, and they are always SHOCKED, I tell you, shocked, at how we can put together about 40 outfits from about 15 pieces.) So I've learned how to stretch my clothes into multiple uses and get wears out of almost everything in multiple seasons.
Take my fall chinos. I wore them all fall as my "jeans alternative" with rich jewel tones and plaid and flannel. Now I want to take them into spring, so I'm going to show you how to use what you have, multiply your options and have a seemingly whole new spring wardrobe.

It's all about the color combinations. Whereas in fall, we loved army green with deep eggplant sweaters and dark denim shirts or even red plaid, in the spring your green chinos will look so fresh with white and ivory, or with chambray, and my favorite, with blush pink.
The key to creating a whole new spring wardrobe without buying all new clothes is to use what you have, but in new color combinations.

Now it's time to trade out your dark denim shirts for something lighter and springy-er, like chambray. I did love wearing chambray in the fall with dark jeans, or my green chinos with dark denim; but now it's time to flip flop and wear chambray with lighter tones and wear army green with paler shades. Is it starting to make sense?

By now, most people have some kind of nude or blush item in your closet. If you don't, substitute light tan or khaki for a jacket to pair with your chinos. Just not red or orange, colors we wore in the fall with our chinos.
