My Advice to Twenty-Year-Old's
What inspires you each day?
I am a generally happy person. This makes life so much easier. And makes me excited to get out each day and live it to the fullest. I’m big on no regrets, forward motion and being grateful. God is in control (cliche, I know, but really, it helps remembering this).
How does your home and family inspire you?
I’m a nester. I make my bed every day, rarely leave dishes in the sink and I don’t like clutter. A beautiful home makes my head feel clear so I can think. And family – well, I live alone. Not married, no kids. So my nieces and nephews are the shining lights in my life. They’re some of the finest human beings I know. They are kind, thoughtful, and each one scatters their sparkle around to make the world a happier place.
What is your favorite thing about calling the South ‘home’?
You know what I think it is? The fact that we smile at each other and say hi and even stop on the street to talk to strangers, especially if they have dogs or babies with them.
How do we begin to create a better life?
Do the next right thing. That might be deciding to stop interrupting the people you love, or starting to give meaningful compliments, or even just exchanging your grumpy resting face with a smile.
How would you describe your personal style?
I love the classics, but I also have some western glam in me – when I’m not in my LBD’s, I’m in faded jeans and cowboy boots.
What was your favorite thing to wear as a child?
Nail polish.
What is your favorite thing to wear now?
Diamonds.
Who have played mentor roles in your life?
My brothers and my sister for sure. We have come through a lot together and we now are glued to each other with friendship, love and good memories.
What advice would you give to women in their 20s.
Your 20′s are great, but every decade gets better if you allow yourself to enjoy being who you are without apology and care less about what people think. Freedom comes with this!
