Beach Clothes That Don't Make You Feel Naked

Tina, here.

How many of you are at the beach, planning to go to the beach, or just back from the beach? Or, in my case, heading to a swimming hole at the end of a short hike through the woods? Either way, do you ever feel like you need to shield your eyes and your children's from the sunbathers and swimmers who are half naked? I do not think I am being dramatic or old-fashioned. I think there is actually a marked difference in the amount of clothes not being worn these days. I'm not endorsing covering your knees or arms because you needlessly worry about them ...there's a goldilocks just right median. So, how shall we then dress when we go to the pool or beach? Easy. Cover all the parts you do when you go to the store or out to eat in warm weather. Here are some ideas. One thing I want to say, I do believe the tide is turning back to good taste and class. Eventually, humans crave correction cycles. We'll have to seize upon all the great classics that will flood the stores this Fall.

An oversized button down shirt makes a great coverup. If it's too long to be a shirt, but too short to be a dress, you can wear it as a tunic. This is one of my favorite packing tips: wear your tunic as a coverup by day, and add wedges and jewelry and wear it out to dinner in the evening, assuming it doesn't get too sandy or sunscreen-y.
