The Prettiest Holiday Hair and Makeup
Hey gals! It's Deidre.
With all this talk about holiday shindigs and celebrations, I think Tina has you covered when it comes to what you're going to wear. (Click here to read about what to wear to a holiday office party.) Now it's time to make sure your holiday hair and makeup are just as fabulous as your outfit. That's where I come in. Obviously. You never want to look like you're trying too hard at a party, but you do want to incorporate a little more glam than you would on a regular night out. Here's a go-to hair and makeup look for a party or event you need to dress up for, without overdoing it.

Holiday Makeup: Black Liner & A Bold Lip
My favorite time to break out a red lip is during the holidays. Any shade of red works. It's so festive. But always remember that when your lip is bold and bright, your eyes shouldn't have too much going on.
1. Eyeliner

After your foundation and blush are on, start by using a black cream or gel liner, applying it a little thicker towards the outer edge of your eye. You need to use a thin, angled brush to apply this eyeliner. It glides on and stays on better than liquid or pencil. It takes a little practice, but you'll be glad you tried! Get all the deets on my favorite cream eyeliner (which is only $3) I use in the Style Notes section of the December Style Vault!
2. Mascara

Add a couple extra coats of your favorite mascara because glam lashes are a must for the holidays.
3. Holiday Lip

Start with your hair curly or wavy. Tease the crown if you need a little volume.
2. Sweep and twist hair to the side.

Sweep all of your hair off to one side and twist it at the nape of your neck.
3. Secure hair with bobby pins.

Criss cross two bobby pins to secure the twist, keeping the pins hidden. Thicker hair might need an extra 2 pins.
4. Final look from the back!

The point is to make it look like your hair is naturally swept to the side without forcing it, but it's actually secured and won't go anywhere! I call it effortless glam: two words that aren't used together nearly enough. I added a link to my absolute favorite brand of premium bobby pins to the Style Notes section in the Style Vault. This won't work with Goody brand. ;)
5. Final look from the front!

See how quickly I just got myself ready for a holiday party? Well, I'm clearly not dressed for a party yet. Tina will tell me what to wear :)
