It's Gift Season! Gifts For Grads, Dads, & More
Tina, here.
I'm moving. AGAIN. It's an addiction, I know. This will be my 5th move in 12 years. Only this time I am actually selling my house, not just renting it. So I'm shopping for a house. SO MUCH FUN! As a professional shopper, this is like the apex. But it is so much work. Sidebar: Online defensive driving classes are not easy. I recently spent 2 1/2 hours slogging through one because I got pulled over 90 seconds from my house when I was headed home to meet my movers. I thought it was for my expired tags. I rolled down the window and when the officer stepped up I said, Oh my gosh I’m so sorry! Here are my tags - I just got the stickers in the mail and haven’t put them on my license plate yet. It was May. My tags expired in February. I think 8 out of the past 10 years I've been late renewing my tags, And I've been pulled over for it probably 6 out of the 10 years. You'd think I'd learn. But, he said, Do you know why I pulled you over? and I said, Well I thought it was my tags. Nope. I had just run a stop sign without even realizing it. Whoah. Distracted driving. And I only scored an 84 on the test. Can you believe that? Even though that's passing, I was furious with myself. I blame it on the math they make you do. Lots of mathy word problems. Ew. Anyway it has got me thinking so much more about being a good defensive driver. Sooooo to bring it back to the barn, every driver you know needs this first gift on my Gift List.
Gifts For Grads & Dads & More
(Most of these are for either girls or boys; you'll know which ones are gender-specific.)
These new "head up display" gadgets are much safer than looking down at the GPS on your phone. This Garmin one has it all. For a snippet of what it can do, read this: driver awareness features available only on Garmin DriveAssist. When your car is stopped in traffic, the “Go” Alert notifies you when traffic in front of you has started to move. The Forward Collision Warning5 alerts if you’re driving too closely to the vehicle ahead, and if you drift off the road or into oncoming traffic, receive Lane Departure Warning5 alerts. Easily navigate hard to read house numbers, thanks to the Garmin Real Vision™ feature. When you approach address destinations, your navigation display will switch to a camera view, showing a bright arrow that points to where you need to go.
GrowlerWerks uKeg 128 Pressurized Growler for Craft Beer (this one's for dads) $199
I love startups. I don't drink beer, but I know lots of guys are really into this whole growler thing. These guys figured out how to make a homebrew or a craft brewer's beer taste as good as it possibly can, whether you're camping or entertaining at home. At least I think that's what they mean: After testing all the available options, we realized nobody had cracked the code on a pressurized growler that works. So we designed the uKeg: It’s easy to use, with an automatic regulator cap and integrated CO2, variable carbonation from zero (off) up to 15 psi, and a dispensing tap so you can easily pour beer without removing the cap. It also has a liquid sight glass, an ergonomic handle, and it’s easy to clean. What he said.

OneBook $37
This gift was so popular for Mother's Day, I'm featuring it again. I am finding I like more and more the practice of writing things down in a planner rather than typing them into a device. And hey, Science shows that we are more likely to remember something when we write it down. I like to hold a book in my hands, to write with a pretty pen, and sketch something out next to my notes in a meeting. But does such a planner exist? Yes. The OneBook is a genius product that's an all-in-one Planner/Notebook/Journal THAT WORKS. How many planners have you tried over the years? None of them seem truly customizable or instinctive to my needs. The size of this one feels so good in the hands, and fits perfectly in my handbag (not a clutch), and the pages won't fall out. It features a morning gratitude section, which is great for setting a positive focus on the day ahead. The agenda section allows you to take notes right there in a meeting. And you can cap the day off with reflections and notes for the next day. Get rid of all your sticky notes and to-do lists. Your thoughts will be organized here, all in one place, next to the day's corresponding events. Brilliant. $37.00 Purchase here.

Another rite of passage for a young lady. I was given one and I still have it on my bedside. Who cares if it doesn't have an alarm. They use their phones for that anyway. This is a lady's piece, an accoutrement, a mark of elegance. I also have one on my bathroom counter to keep me on track when Im getting ready. Both are cherished gifts from people I love, given to me for high school and college graduations. Be that kind of gift-giver.
Thank you for visiting. Shop now before items sell out, as is likely to happen! Be the person on someone's life who gives a gift to be remembered and cherished, and they will think of you every time they use it or admire it. And that's the meaning of gifts.
Best,
Tina
