Modern Trendy Fall Coats and Jackets
Years ago, I promised myself I would add one great Fall coat to my collection each season in order to build a coat collection. I have kept that promise to myself and must confess, I have an option for everything (and some to spare)!
My coat collection is dominated with two styles in particular: fur and leather. However, I have hand-selected a few timeless pieces that do not fall into those categories. About 6 years ago, I decided I needed a “grown up coat”. Yes, trendy, casual me had a reality check with herself. I looked in my closet and realized I did not own a coat fit for a lady. Tom girl, farm girl Jessica needed a Lady Day Coat. What’s that you say? It is a beautiful single button, wool blend, long coat that can be worn during the day or night.
Lady Day Coat:
It is my city girl, sophisticated, lady who lunches coat. No seriously, it is a beautiful must-have wardrobe piece. It is great being casual but there is something to be said for stepping your game up one notch. This coat is classically styled. The honest truth is when I went to research one for you, I discovered it is still being made EXACTLY like this one. Not one update. The description even says “first introduced in 2001”. There is no way around it, it is a Wardrobe Builder.
Styled with my distressed jeans and my cheetah shirt for an all day look to dinner. The playful, hot pink velvet pump is my unexpected twist thrown in with this classic coat. YES! I have placed a pair for you Complete members to shop inside the Style Vault Complete. Trust me these pumps will reappear all season.
Don’t worry you can take this look to work. I simply changed into a pencil skirt and neutral shoe. Hot pink velvet is not for the office. I also removed my cocktail ring so my accessories are simpler as well.
I too, take tips from the other YSV stylists. I love this coat so much I bought it in black! Francie recommends that if you find a piece you love, buy it in every color you love as well. This coat is an investment. I will let you in on a secret, huddle tight, please. They will put this coat on sale after Christmas. Yes, seriously. That’s when I bought my second. It is a very high quality wool coat with light thinsulate lining. And it comes in petite. I am wearing a 4P. I have sourced a similar coat in sizes 14-24 as well that Complete Insiders can shop inside my Fall Outerwear Collection. Everyone needs a Lady Day Coat!
Moto Jacket:
No, I am not going to stop until you add a Moto Jacket to your collection this Fall. I have shown you a black moto which I realize might feel too harsh and rocker for some of you. Sometimes easing your way into a trend gives you more comfort. I cannot stress to you how much you need a moto jacket this season. You don’t have to just buy black. Color is dominating coats and jackets this year and the Moto is definitely not being left out.
Pink! Pale pink isa soft, feminine way to add the moto jacket to your wardrobe. I have the styling of the moto, but the color has toned down the edge and softened the look. Can you really wear pink in the Fall/Winter you ask? Certainly. I pair mine with dark neutrals such as chocolate, black and army green. I also wear it with winter white. It is a beautiful relief from heavy colors come January. I placed a faux leather option for you that is available up to size 24 in the Style Vault Complete. Since it is pink, a faux is a better option than real leather. Notice my bag? Tina suggested it a few weeks back in her Fall Handbag Collection for Complete Insiders.
I want to give you wardrobe options. I tend to show you causal styling. Here, I am wearing a simple wool sheath dress in a heathered brown. I bought this dress years ago in Chicago. It is a great Wardrobe Builder. I have placed a similar one in my Fall Outerwear Collection, there are both petite sizes and sizing up to a 24. This look will take you to after work cocktails or to dinner.
My job is to offer you Modern Trends and Wardrobe Builders and I know these two coats will bring just that to your closet. I love hearing your feedback. Reach out to me at [email protected] or on Facebook.
Until next time,
Jessica
