What To Wear This Fall Instead Of Jeans
Tina, here.
Some days I am just so over blue jeans. I feel like I wear them all the time. And I need some variety in my life. Do you ever feel like that? Yeah, so today we're looking at jeans alternatives for those days you just can't bear to wear them one more time. And by the way, it's too early for your cords and leather pants. But that's coming reeeeal soon!
What To Wear This Fall Instead Of Jeans
1. A good pair of chinos.
I qualify this with "good" because I don't want you to confuse chinos with man-khakis or a sloppy cotton trouser. Khakis are for bankers and schoolboys. Not you, chic friend. A chino is a heavier cotton, and I want you to wear one that is ankle length, and fits well through the hip and thighs. In other words, not baggy at all. The material will stretch, so buy it fitted. I included a really great chino in the September Style Vault that I loved the minute I put on.

See how that white blouse classes up the chinos? Even untucked it does the trick. That cute clutch is from K. McCarthy!

Now look at the length. It's ankle length and it's perfect. This is one pant I do not like in a bootcut. It needs to be an ankle pant to show your ankles, to keep it streamlined and feminine. Don't forget to check out the pair I featured in the September Style Vault (Style Notes section) if you're a member. And if you're not, you can join today and start shopping.
2. Wear ivory jeans instead of white or blue jeans.
I know. Revolutionary, right? But seriously, they are hard to find. Ivory is not an easy denim color to get right (too yellow or too pink, or too naked-looking). I am always on the hunt, so I turn up good pairs all the time, but for someone who isn't a shopper, it can be tough. I just updated the September Style Vault with a pair of ivory jeans I really like. (They come in a good army green, too.)

Isn't this necklace fabulous? It comes from K. McCarthy, one of our retail partners. They are providing Vault Insiders 20% off one of my modern must-haves, an open sweater that is soooo comfy (see it below). To get the discount join the Vault. Only $7.99/month.
3. How about charcoal grey?
I got these silk beauties on sale at the end of the season last year, and have been wearing them this summer, and already this fall. They go with everything.

I love grey with neutrals, or you can also pair it with primary colors. I've got some great charcoal grey ponte trousers in the September Style Vault. They sold out within the first week, and I tracked them down somewhere else, so you can still shop them.

Kathleen, the owner at K. McCarthy, and my first ever stylist, has some great statement jewelry in her shop. Here's another one of her necklaces.
4. Grey denim is another great blue jeans alternative.
I cannot get enough grey. I think Kathleen and I both said our favorite color is grey. Well, after white for me. A pale grey denim is soft and sophisticated. A welcome change from all the ripped and shredded and worn-out blue jeans everyone is wearing.

I've got on a bootcut. I just added this pair to the September Style Vault, Style Notes section. Warning - they are très chère (pricey) but I love them. I got mine on sale (sorry). Maybe these will go on sale again. In the meantime, I added a pair of grey denim jeans at a more comfortable price point (40% off). So you have two options!

Tassels are still in, and this is a great tassel necklace from K. McCarthy. Wear it all fall, and into next spring, too.

Thank you, Kathleen, for a beautiful photo shoot inside your glamorous shop! We had a great time playing with your clothes and jewelry. If you're in Nashville, stop by and visit. I'm wearing the famous open sweater featured as one of my 12 Modern Must-Haves in the September issue of the Style Vault, and you can get it for 20% off if you're a member. For more info click here.
I’m addicted to the vault! I can’t get dressed without you!
