Rediscovering Levi's

Tina, here.

The first touch of fall. Did you feel it?  Cooler mornings and evenings this week, and these beautiful days with no humidity.  It's such a  glorious time of year. Makes me almost want to switch out my white jeans for my blue jeans.

Speaking of blue jeans, let's rediscover the amazing American company (still privately held) Levi's.  And meet their new brand, Made & Crafted.

In my college days I bought up pairs and pairs of old rugged Levi's 501 jeans at Good Will anytime I could find my size, and had my friend's mother sew in patches for me.  I had quite the collection.  Then everyone started doing that until the price was driven up so high and these vintage jeans were fetching hundreds of dollars at chi-chi boutiques.

Then there was a shortage because the Japanese started buying ALL of them.  And all the old equipment.

Well, Levi's is still making their 501's (and has been making women's jeans since the 1930's) and now has a new brand,  Made & Crafted.

Here is how Miles Johnson, designer, describes their customer: She is a bit of a tomboy, one who likes good quality clothes. So many women feel comfortable and confident in Made & Crafted style. It's about being able to express your tomboy side without being anti-aesthetic. It's about things being easy to wear and still looking like they're worth wearing.

Here are some of my favorite looks from Fall 2013: (updated)

Levi's Wool Coat.

The absolute standout from Levi's Made & Crafted was, for us, the bare bones Wool Coat. Basically it's like a well-tailored comforter, thrown over your shoulder.

Levis Leather Jacket.

Our favorite piece of outerwear in this collection is this vintage leather jacket.

How about some regular ole Levi's?  They still make a great jean.

Perfect bootcut and perfect rinse.

And they make a great jean for curvy women.

Who doesn't love a pair of Levi's?  Just so all-American.
