If you're going to be daring and wear black leather pants on a date, which, I mean why not, life is short and all, pair them with something a bit softer like a pretty blouse, to take the edge off. You're trying to avoid the barbarella cliché.

Leather pants must be fitted. Which means your top is better if it is a bit looser and longer. I don't want you to scare away your kids' friends when you inevitably bump into them at that bar. I have on a cami under my deep v-neck top, not just for warmth, but also as a backup plan when I might suddenly have to lean down to speak to a child.
