Barbara's Five Fall Must-Haves
Tina, here.
You all know Barbara, right? As in, one of the members of the Team Fabulous Stylists, along with Amy Croker. She has this really cool western chic vibe going that I aspire to: influenced by the rustic mountains out West that she loves, with a whole lot of sophisticated chic.

You know what I love about Barbara Burns? Well there are so many things, but she is one of those truly genuine souls who can laugh and cry with you at just the right moment. She's a giver; she has brought me food more than once when I've had surgery. And her style! Divine.
We've already been cleaning out fall closets all over Nashville and Williamson County. One of our favorite parts about being invited into clients' most sacred place is uncovering the hidden gems they are convinced we will toss and making them new again. Now, we might advise you to toss plenty of items you swear you need. That purple sweater you get compliments on when you wear - it's because the color looks good on you, not the sweater.
I asked Barbara to take us inside her closet (be watching for our visit to Amy's closet, too!) and show us her five fall must-haves and how she'll be wearing them. Fair warning, you are going to want her to create her magic in your closet, too. And you totally can - how cool to have her right there inside your closet doing for you what she does here and for so many people?! My friends, meet Barbara.
Barbara's 5 Fall Must-Haves
1. Blazer

I found this blazer on a girls' shopping trip to Chicago. I Instantly fell in love because of the persimmon color. It is SO fall, isn't it? And I loved how it cinches in at the waist. This color looks great with jeans, but also with black (I consider it an earth tone), brown and winter white! I've had it for years and it is still one of my favorite pieces for fall.
Here's how Barbara styled it for this fall:

Here's how Tina styled it, "I love a blazer over a dress, especially if you want to create a waist. Barbara has this great chambray shirtdress (great fabric for fall!) that I love with her blazer. It kind of reminds me of something you'd wear when you've just come back from safari."
2. Poncho or Cape

I LOVE this poncho! First of all, it's reversible with my 2 favorite colors for fall, black and camel. My cost per wear automatically drops significantly because it pairs so well with other pieces, so you will see me wearing this a lot this fall! When I'm not with my clients, I'm traveling to see my two grown children and my grandbaby, or out west....and this is the perfect travel wrap.

Tina tried on my poncho, too. And is getting in line to borrow it! Vault Insiders, shop one like this (it's so rich and luxurious and in gorgeous neutrals) in the Style Notes section of the September Issue.
3. Sheath

I found this sheath last year and I loved it because of the leather inset on the sides. Tina has talked for a long time about how valuable a sheath is, and of course, she is absolutely right! A sheath dress is a must-have for every woman! I can instantly feel pulled together when I wear this one piece, no matter where I'm going: a cocktail party with dressy heels, or a casual lunch with my husband or girlfriends with a jean jacket and boots.

Here's how Tina styled it, and she says, "I thought this poncho I'm lusting after could transform it from being an office-dress by day into more of a casual evening look. A poncho just makes everything instantly chic." Shop a sheath in two colors inside the September Vault. It can be dressed up or down for the office or a party. You'll love the ponte fabric.

I love the new baby flare jean (Not to be confused with boho bellbottoms). As Tina has said for years, the bootcut is the most flattering pant silhouette for any woman, and we've been putting our clients of every age and size in them for years. We know where all the good ones are this season, too! I love a good, dark rinse like these because it is so timeless.

I'm 5'10" and my flare jeans require a tall heel. A bootie with a high heel works best for me. I think your shoes need to be simple. The flare needs to be the attention-getter, not your shoes. The taller you are, the more flare you can do. If it is the right jean, it's fabulous! There's a fab pair of baby flare jeans inside the September Vault, and really well-priced! We don't believe you have to pay hundreds for jeans.

I dressed up the skirt with this silk top, but I can't wait to pair my poncho with it this fall! The poncho will give me the perfect amount of draping over the fitted skirt for either a casual or cocktail look. A leather skirt is one of our featured 12 Must-Haves for building a modern fall wardrobe. Members, get inside the September Style Vault to see and buy it now. You'll have it for years, I promise.

If you wear your skinny jeans tucked inside your tall boots like I have here, just be sure you don't get elephant knees. Your jeans have to be a true skinny to fit inside the boots. We have lots of great tall boots (and ankle booties) inside the September Style Vault and the bonus Fall Shoe Wardrobe edition. Join today so you can start shopping!

Let us get in there and create a glorious fall wardrobe with easy to wear pieces so you'll be looking and feeling your best every day.
I hired one of Tina's stylists to clean out my closet because someone has to be accountable for how I look in my profession. It was exhilarating to purge outdated trends and be told the truth about my fashion "no's". Barbara really cared; she took the time to explain to me why my peasant blouses and oversized sweaters were wrong. She was so right about the classics being tried and true. When it comes down to it, my LBD and nude pumps get the job done every time. Now it's time to add some fun pops, with Barbara's help of course!Betsy Wills, The Wills Company
