Thanksgiving - What To Wear!

Tina, here.

The glorious day that is Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Is it your favorite holiday, too? It's such a peaceful, quiet and non-consumer-y one compared to the other holidays. And in fact, this year we are commemorating the 400th Thanksgiving! (The first was officially November 29, 1623, three years after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth.) Let's relish this season of thanks-giving before the mad dash to Christmas starts! To get you in the spirit, I added some Thanksgiving and party playlists to the Insiders Collection. I also added a new Thanksgiving Shop filled with all kinds of treasures as you prepare for the holidays (most are on sale and under $100, and there are some very special one-of-a-kinds)! For just $5/mo. you get all my gold - my secret discoveries and more! Come on inside!

I don't want you to worry about what to wear Thanksgiving, so I'm showing you exactly how to show up chic, fabulous and well-dressed, so you can forget about it and enjoy all those around you.

Suede Pants (more affordable ones here) | Silk Shell under jacket (another option)| Leather Jacket (great alternative)| Suede Slingbacks

(Most of what I wear I've had for years ~ my philosophy is buy what you love and keep wearing it, adding a few fun trends each season to keep it fresh and multiply outfits. As always, scroll down for lots of outfit ideas you can copy or update what you have.)

The key to a long day of eating and sitting around is comfort. And clothes that don't "ruin" by wrinkling or staining. Suede, cords (these are the best), velvet, and stretchy pants are wonderful for this kind of day! Granted leather stains, but if you get faux, it's much easier to clean. But the great thing about all these fabrics is that they are comfy and very forgiving. It's like wearing leisure clothes that look really smart and chic. I did a post on suede pants last week, and so many readers got excited about them! I buy real suede when I see them on deep discounts (at places like T J Maxx), but the faux ones are pretty affordable. And faux has come so far!! Just stay away from shiny, crackly faux suede and leather. Other than that, you're good. Oh, one more point, because they stretch, make sure they are fitted when you buy them.
