What To Wear To A Summer Party?

This heat. It can be tough to keep your cool in this summer heat. No one glistens anymore. We all just sweat. Which presents so many wardrobe issues: sweat stains silk. So they're out. White jeans are even too hot to wear in some heat. So they're out. And then these questions of doubt, Are my skirts too short? Is my dress too dressy? What is everyone else wearing in this heat??

All of us are struggling in one way or another to know what to wear to a summer party when it's hot outside.

1. Start with a non-body-con dress. In fact, toss all your bodycon dresses!

A dress that doesn't touch you lets you breathe. You get a breeze every now and then between your legs, which is worth a lot at a poolside party or outdoor bar.

Sometimes when it's just so hot, I don't want any extraneous things touching me, so I'll go pretty light on my jewelry and shoes. I don't like a lot of straps anyway, but a simple wedge or sandal, with as little going on as possible, is what I'm after.

2. Wear your crochet while you can - it's got built-in ventilation and it looks way too summery come late September.

3. If you're in a place where it actually gets cooler in the evenings (lucky you!), grab a scarf so you have an extra layer if you need it.

On a cooler evening, or even when the sun goes down but it's still warm, you may feel good having something around your neck. I love a lightweight scarf sometimes instead of a heavy necklace.

If it's just too hot for wearing actual clothes and you'd rather wear a tank top and short-shorts, I must say, it's too hot! Can I get a witness?!
