What To Wear This Week To Everything

Tina, here.

Some days you just want someone to tell you what to wear. At your service, dolls.

What To Wear This Week

Here's me. Pretend I'm in your closet. Wait, how did you get all those white jeans? I want some!!! Share, please. Because I need more than the 14 pairs I have. But seriously, consider me walking with you into your closet and figuring out what you're going to wear all week long. I'm drawing from things most of you would have (especially if you've been our client or you belong to the Style Vault.)

This week is probably chock full of back-to-fall activities. I was talking to our fab stylist, Amy Croker, and she was telling me about all the things going on with her family. Her daughter's school has a back-to-school festival/fundraiser. It's a fun outdoors event and it's still HOT in the south...this creates a real problem for what to wear. Barbara Burns, our other fab stylist, is getting back into the swing of fall schedule, too, with all manner of meetings and volunteer work. Both Barbara and Amy are very plugged into our communities, which I love, because so many people think we just shop all day. HA! If you put on a great outfit, you can get out there and live your life, and not be over-thinking your clothes. That's what we're here for.

Back To Fall: What To Wear All Week Long

Monday: Meet the Teachers and Parent Orientation

What To Wear: Back To School

White jeans are still a great go-to. Grab yours, then grab a tank or tee to match and top it off with a neutral cardigan. A fitted cardigan. Instead of your summer sandals, switch to your animal-print flats. (Cute pair of animal-print flats inside August Style Vault.)

What To Wear: White Jeans and Animal-Print Flats

You're going to be hearing a lot from me about transitioning your wardrobe from summer into fall. White jeans are a big part of it.

Tuesday: Errands, Cafeteria Lunch With Your Kids, After-School Games

What To Wear: Errands

That denim skirt is still good, too. In fact it's a year-round staple you'll see more of. For a crisp, put-together look, add your white button-down blouse (have trouble finding one that doesn't pull or feel too stiff? Vault insiders, shop one of September's must-have Modern Classics early and get this white blouse! In August's Style Notes today, and the rest of the Fall Classics list coming September 1!).

What To Wear: Denim Skirt

Then add brown accessories like brown wedges and a belt. I like turquoise jewelry, but this is a blank slate for any kind of jewelry.

What To Wear: Denim Skirt and Wedges

I love my brown wedges. And guess what, dolls? I'm working hard right now on a special edition of the September Style Vault - Fall Shoes - in addition to our regular September Style Vault. Join today so you're ready to shop when it lands September 1.

Wednesday: Luncheon, Networking Event, then Girls Night Out (for that friend who managed to be born smack dab in the middle of crazy August)

What To Wear: Sundresses and Cardigans

I start wearing my summer sundresses with little cardigans and jackets in late summer.

What To Wear: Sundresses in Early Fall

This tip works for almost all of your sundresses - a great way to get more cost per wear out of them when they look a little too summery come late August/ early September.

How To Wear A Cardigan With A Sundress

Button that middle button on your cardigan to pull you in at the waist. If you hate buttoning, leave it open IF it is a shrunken fit and not too bulky on you. Then push up your sleeves to show your wrists.

What To Wear: Girls Night Out

Girls Night Out! Whoo Hoo! But who has the time to run home, shower and find a cute outfit? And clean? Skip the shower and spritz perfume. Then grab your dark rinse skinny jeans (they are dressier than other jeans), find a white t-shirt (doesn't matter if it's stained) and throw on a blazer.

What To Wear: Girls Night Out

Even a seersucker blazer like this one works because I've paired it with dark rinse jeans instead of white jeans. And if your hair needs some TLC, just pull it back into a pony tail. Add big earrings and you're out the door.

Thursday: Kick-Off for Volunteer Boards

What To Wear: Jeans and a White Button Down

All those organizations you volunteer for are gearing up for their big charity events and parties, and you've agreed to help. What were you thinking?? Aww you're a good person. With a lot going on, so take those dark rinse jeans you've worn a couple times already this week and your white button-down blouse. Leave it untucked, but cuff those sleeves and pop the collar a bit to frame your face.

What To Wear: Jeans and Flats

Stack lots of bracelets for a statement, grab your cute flats, and you are looking professional without being too stiff. Fun like a party-planner, but smart enough not to blow the budget on party favors.

Friday: Business Meeting, then Cocktails

What To Wear: Business Meeting

If you have a serious business meeting this week, go classic. Too warm for a suit, so your black pencil skirt and white button down come into play again.

White Blouse

I layered my pearls (barely visible, which is kinda the point) and kept everything else simple. Cuff those sleeves!

Black Pencil Skirt and Animal-Print Flats

For daytime, especially if there's lots of walking, flats are the way to go. Pointy-toe flats will be most flattering. I've got some great ones you can shop in the August Style Vault, and I'm collecting the best of the best shoes for our September special edition on Fall Shoes.

What To Wear: Cocktails

Cocktail party that evening? Easy. Replace your white button-down with a silk blouse, and your flats for a black patent pump.

What To Wear: Cocktails

I even left on my pearls, but if it's a fancier event, you might want to add a little sparkle. Make-up can go a bit heavier in the evening, too. If you don't have time to do a full face, just wear a darker lipstick.
