Make Flannel Shirts Chic

This post is probably my last one before I shift to.... SPRING!!! So, for one last Winter hurrah, I decided to honor my love of flannel. Is flannel dowdy? Frumpy? Or can flannel feel less Farmer Brown and more romantic and 1883-ish frontier chic? While flannel may never conjure visions of to the manor born, it for sure speaks to our love of the American West. If you think you can't wear button-downs, I'm solving this problem for you, too.

Why plaid flannel shirts? Well, they are warm and soft. Secondly, you can find them in so many beautiful plaids and tartans for a bit of pattern and color in the long Winter months. If you have a hard time wearing button down shirts because they pull across your chest, I can solve that for you right now. You need this. It's a cami - not a tank top, and you don't want it to have a built-in bra. No lace. You only need two colors: winter white (not stark white, not nude) and black. The colors have nothing to do with the color of your skin, or your clothes. You'll wear winter white under everything but black. You'll wear black under black and navy. It must be of man-made material. Cotton will bulk up under your blouses. The placket on your blouses will lay flat with no pulling, and an added advantage, you can create a nice "v" by leaving the top two or three buttons undone with no fear of exposing yourself. I wear them almost every day.
