Welcome Coral! The 2019 Color Of The Year

Tina, here.

Hallelujah! Rejoice because the 2019 color of the year looks good on everyone!

Let's hear it for CORAL CORAL CORAL! Or as I like to call it, P'ORANGE.

Coral is a universally flattering shade to all skin tones. Wearing the right shade of coral has as much, if not more, to do with your hair color than your skin tone.

There are cool blondes and warm blondes. Cool blondes - think wheat, sand, platinum tones. Warm blondes - think more golden and honey highlights.

If you have fair skin and are a cool blonde, like above left, you'll want paler shades of coral with cool, pink undertones. If you're a warm blonde with warm skin tones, like above right, you can veer more towards an orangey coral. Side note: a mistake I often see in older women is to continue dying their hair dark when their skin tone has become paler over time (this happens as we age). So if you used to be a "winter," chances are you may not be anymore.

If you have darker skin with warm and yellow or olive undertones, you can wear stronger shades of coral with warm pink or orange undertones. And your hair can veer into the browns. (I'm not a hair expert so I'm sorry if I'm using the wrong term :) )

So if you're a cool, ---> pink undertones for your coral work.

If you're a warm, ---> orangey - red undertones for your coral work.

I think this deep coral, on the left, is too harsh for her fair skin and clashes with her gorgeous red hair. I'd go with a pinker coral. But I LOVE that she's paired white jeans with a pop of color! On the right, I think this top with warm pink tones washes her out - she has a cool, pink skin tone but her blonde hair is too warm.

There is a coral for everyone. If you love pinky corals, but can't wear pink next to your face, try shorts! Likewise, if you love orangey corals but feel it's too harsh next to your face, wear it on your bottom half.
