My Fall Favorites From Halsbrook
ELLIOTT LAUREN Beige French Trench Poncho $295, your price $221.25
Such a brilliant idea for a lightweight Fall jacket - it's a troncho! But really, it's a trench and a poncho. I've been obsessed with short-sleeve jackets ever since I noticed women wearing them in Paris last time I took clients there to shop. It's so chic and easy to wear (you'll wear it in Spring, too)...it comes in one size and I can truly say it will fit everyone. If you want to bring it in a bit, there's a perfect place on the sides to add a snap. The black interior lining is so sharp! Styled here with camel pants to show you a tonal look, but you can literally wear this jacket with everything in your closet. Everything.
If you are constantly in search of pretty, wearable tops, here is a true wardrobe hero. Satiny front with a knit back so it feels like a t-shirt. It is also surprisingly not prone to wrinkle! What a plus! Short-sleeve tops are a staple for under jackets if you tend to get hot. Add a necklace to flatter the neckline, and voila you are set.
And you know how I adore a good carry-all! I like one I can fit my iPad or laptop in, plus some magazines and papers. This leather is scrumptious! It arrives a bit stiff, which I LOVE because it will keep its shape over time (unlike lesser quality totes that get droopy and sloppy- looking) but will stretch with use to accommodate your belongings. It feels a lot more expensive than it is. Other colors available, too.
Veronica Beard knows how to cut a blazer. But let's get to the real point. This blazer is COGNAC!! And tweed! And perfect! It has a narrow armhole which I love love love. Don't be put off by that - it's not tight. It's tailored, and gives you a lean, graceful look.
Can you tell I've had a lot of requests for tops you won't overheat in, that you can wear under jackets in cooler months? A sleeveless turtleneck is essential! And if you can't wear wool, this soft, stretchy fabric is perfect. I did a post on the glory of a face-framing polo a couple weeks ago, and a turtleneck is perhaps even more flattering, plus it hides beaucoups of neck things. And it's COGNAC.
A pair of black jeans are a MUST for your Fall wardrobe because they go from ballgames to cocktails depending on your shoes and jewelry. I felt it was important to include Halsbrook's description because these are the details that make it worth your dollars: a "high-rise silhouette that is fitted through the hips and thighs with a skinny flare leg, this jean is super flattering and perfect for a range of blouses and jackets. Thanks to the brand's secret skinny pockets, ...the construction utilizes stretch fabric for a slimming effect that will ensure a perfect fit." I 100% agree.
Kinross cashmere and cotton sweaters have become a go-to for me, and I discovered them through Halsbrook! This is what I love about Halsbrook, friends: they curate for quality, cost per wear, and chic-factor. This cashmere popover is not that one-ply thin stuff that balls up after a couple wears. It is hefty, and soft, and this luscious taupe/fawn looks gorgeous with Fall colors or other neutrals.
I love a good ole cable knit. This mist blue v-neck sweater has the softness of cashmere without the wool! Layer it over a button down, or wear it with just a cami underneath. Even better? You'll pull it out for Spring, too! With, what else but white jeans, and a myriad of other things I'll show you next Spring.
Oh my goodness I adore this stripe button down with the front twist! If you think you can't wear button downs, you can wear this one. The placket won't pucker because of the design, and the twist not only camouflages your mid-section, but it looks good untucked! I also tucked it into my jeans, and that worked fine, too. Finley knows how to tailor.
Ok, this is my VERY favorite piece from this post. A knit blazer, first of all, is BRILLIANT. You get all the chic-ness of a tailored blazer with all the coziness of a sweatshirt. I almost always fly in a knit blazer for this reason. Secondly, the texture and the color of this blazer is exquisite. The blue is not exactly navy, it's a bit brighter, so you can't mistake it for black. And you can't see from this photo, but it has a beautiful silk lining the color of the Aegean Sea. It's double-breasted without being wide across the front like some are. See? Perfection.
AG jeans and cords fit everyone. They really do. When I put on these cords, I instantly wanted to go play in the leaves and drink hot chocolate. You want your cords to fit snugly because they stretch more than jeans do. So don't return them based on this...wear them around the house for a while and you'll see what I mean. When you wash them they go right back to size. These are a bit bluer than in the photo.
THE best way to add a pop of color and interest to an outfit is with a scarf. I'll be doing more posts on this but I wanted you to see how easy it is to wear one and not fuss about it, especially when it's a soft, watercolor-y pattern because it will pretty much go with everything!
Mmmmm this cashmere sweater is delicious in a rich chocolate brown! Such a feminine neckline, designed to be worn as a boat neck for a casual daytime outfit, or off the shoulder for evening. You've seen this silhouette before because I think it's an iconic style you need in your closet. Plus, the color is very au courant!
I'm seeing a lot of sweater dressing this Fall! It's such a cozy way to dress. This one can be worn with or without the self-tie belt (remember to tie it to the side in a half bow or knot!), and pair it casually with sneakers now and when it gets cooler, add your favorite tall boots for warmth.
Thank you for reading! And thank you Halsbrook for this amazing private sale for my readers!
